To whom it may concern: RE: Lost article February 16, 2008 @7:00pm NV time Please be advised that we were traveling in Las Vegas last week and had taken a cab from our hotel, Harrah’s, on the strip to the international terminal two. At that time, departing the taxi we had left my wife’s purse inside the cab. Noting the error, once inside the terminal- I had run outside to see if the cab was still there, he had left already. I quickly tried to call my wife’s cell to notify the taxi driver, to no avail. I had looked up the phone number of the taxi company that took us to the airport and called the taxi company and explained the situation. Unfortunately, while traveling to the airport I did not take note of the taxi driver’s number, I guessed the number to be 7583 or 7389- I did note that the cab number was 4 digits. I was advised to speak with a dispatch officer where I left my statement with item inside the purse. They were going to call back if they were able to locate the missing item. In the meantime, I continually called the cell phone hoping that the driver would hear the cell phone located on the seat behind him. In all I contacted the telephone 71 times, at 60th try someone had shut off the cell phone- the calls now went to voicemail, I had called back the dispatcher at taxi company and advised her of some more details that my wife and I were able to come up with as well that the cell phone had been shut off. She (Karen) – the dispatch agent had indicated that she has not heard anything yet, and will call. I had asked if there were any procedures that the cab driver must follow if an item was ever left in the cab. I also asked if I could get a ticket or incident number from her so I could track any changes with my case. I was told there was none, it was all done manually. I later found out that there are procedures that the cab driver must follow and contacted the lost and found department with that cab company. I had spoke with Lupe from the lost and found advised her of the lost article and its contents. I later contacted her back and she had not found anything that was returned by a driver matching our contents. I am concerned with the consistency that I have received from this dispatch company, it seemed every time that I contacted the company, I never received a direct answer that any protocols were in place if any items were lost, I know we are not the first people to lose anything with a cab company. I was not satisfied with the results that we received with the dispatch company and the differing comments each time I called. It took me multiple phone calls to find out that there is a lost and found department with in the cab company that I called. Once I found this out, I was able to speak with Lupe, who today was looking after this department, she as helpful as she could be since she did not have in her possession our lost article. We were able to gain the following information from the cab driver, he had just started at 5pm, and we were picked up at 6:45, dropped off at approximately 7:00pm. He may have been of a Caribbean decent. The driver was male approximately 30-45 years of age. The taxi was a minivan made by Chrysler with a tan interior. My initial call was at 7:08pm, to my wife’s cell. We were able to find out that the cab was either white with a red top or white with a black markings, both operated by the same company. Either Union or ACE, and I am within a 60% confidence level that the cab numbers were 75xx. I was hoping that the dispatch was able to keep a roster of their pick up’s and drop off’s. With a little work on there part with the info that we gave them they would have been able to come up with the cab ID. Not to mention the driver should have heard the multiple connection attempts I was trying to make by calling her cell phone. Here is what we have for contents inside the purse: Purse was a small knitted purse 6”x 8” with a long strap (black in color)
